About

Our Story & Purpose

The Lioness Within Community was established in response to what parents consistently told us they were missing:
spaces to be listened to, support that did not blame or judge, and guidance that recognised the complexity of raising teenagers in today’s world.

Our purpose is to support families before difficulties escalate, by:

  • Strengthening communication and understanding
  • Reducing isolation for parents and carers
  • Supporting emotional regulation and connection
  • Helping families navigate change with greater confidence

We focus on prevention rather than crisis, and on building long-term relational resilience rather than quick fixes.

Our Vision

A community where families feel supported, connected, and confident as they navigate the teenage years, and where strong parent-teen relationships help prevent isolation, escalation, and crisis.

Our Mission

To support parents, carers, and young people through trauma-informed, SEND-inclusive, and relationship-centred programmes that strengthen communication, emotional wellbeing, and connection during adolescence.

Our Values & Approach

Our work is shaped by a clear set of values that guide how we show up for families and communities.

Trauma-Informed

We recognise that behaviour is often a response to experience. Our work prioritises emotional safety, predictability, choice, and compassion.

SEND-Inclusive

We actively support families of neurodivergent teenagers and work to remove barriers to access. Inclusion is embedded in how we design and deliver services, not added as an afterthought.

Relationship-Centred

We place relationships at the heart of change. Strong, respectful connections between parents and young people are central to emotional wellbeing and family resilience.

Respectful & Non-Judgemental

Families are supported, not fixed. Parents are treated as experts in their own children, and their experiences are valued.

Community-Led

We listen first. Our services are shaped by ongoing engagement with parents, young people, and community partners.
