As May comes to a close, it feels like the perfect opportunity to pause and reflect on the progress made over the past month.

While May was intentionally quieter in terms of social media activity, it was one of the most important months of the year so far for The Lioness Within Community CIC.

As a small community organisation, there is often pressure to remain highly visible at all times. However, we made a conscious decision to prioritise programme development, service quality, and long-term impact over frequent content creation.

Throughout the month, we continued delivering our Parent-Teen Connection Drop-In Clinics and Tea & Talk parent support sessions, ensuring that parents and families could continue accessing support when they needed it most.

We were also pleased to successfully transition our Tea & Talk sessions to Birchmere Community Hub, creating new opportunities to reach and support local families.

Behind the scenes, significant progress was made on the development of the Parent-Teen Bond Builder™ programme. This work included refining the programme framework, strengthening session content, developing resources, and further establishing the programme as the flagship offer within the Parent-Teen Bond Academy.

At the same time, we began developing a new youth programme focused on confidence, belonging, emotional wellbeing, resilience, and positive relationships. We hope to pilot this programme during the summer holidays and provide additional support for young people within our community.

May also provided opportunities to strengthen existing partnerships and begin conversations with new organisations across Greenwich, Bexley, Thamesmead, and surrounding areas.

Looking ahead to June, our priorities are clear:

  • Complete the Parent-Teen Bond Builder™ programme and resources.
  • Continue developing our youth programme.
  • Build new partnerships and collaboration opportunities.
  • Continue delivering parent and youth support services.
  • Create sustainable foundations for future growth and impact.

Although progress is not always visible, some of the most important work happens behind the scenes. May reminded us that growth is not always about doing more – it is often about doing the right things at the right time.

We are excited about what the coming months will bring and look forward to sharing more as our plans continue to develop.

Thank you to everyone who has supported our work, attended our sessions, partnered with us, and believed in our vision of helping families build stronger, healthier relationships.

Together, we continue to build stronger connections, stronger families, and stronger communities.
